Health Diaries: Notes From Nursing School - Part 1: Orientation Day – A Silent Introduction

Welcome, dear Journey Seekers, to the first chapter of our Nursing School Diary.

Two days before the much-anticipated orientation day, I found myself ironing my outfit with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. As I carefully packed my bag overnight, I wondered what lay ahead in this new chapter of my journey.

On the morning of orientation, I set out with eagerness, relying on public transportation to get me there. However, my excitement hit a hiccup when the bus encountered an unexpected delay. Determined not to let this dampen my spirits, I navigated the transportation challenge and eventually arrived at the orientation venue just in time. The mix of anticipation, nerves, and the unknown made for a memorable start to this new adventure.

Picture this: Orientation day at nursing school.

A room abuzz with unfamiliar faces. I found solace in the corners, quietly observing the sea of new beginnings. Anxiety set in when the time came for introductions.

The Unheard Introduction: A Blessing in Disguise

When my turn arrived, a cacophony of noise drowned my attempt to speak. Oddly enough, I was elated. At that time, my shyness craved the invisibility granted by this twist of fate. So, without a word to anyone, I sat down quietly, thinking no one noticed. Little did I know, two kind souls reintroduced themselves to me, explaining they hadn't heard my name well during the chaos. I felt a sense of belonging.

Lunch at the Tuck Shop: Cautious Choices

Navigating the tuck shop with scarce funds, I carefully selected my choices.

Despite the school's proximity to home, the costs of travel were still a burden. As the orientation period ended, the reality of financial strain led me to reconsider living arrangements. The decision to rent closer to school seemed logical, yet it brought forth a new set of challenges – bills and responsibilities I hadn't anticipated. I might have been inexperienced, but contributing half of the expenses for electricity, water, and gas bills felt overwhelming for me. Nonetheless, I was resolute to persevere and quickly devise some form of schedule

Lessons Learned and Looking Forward

Reflecting on this experience, I've learned the importance of adaptability and careful financial planning. If I could go back, I'd approach budgeting more strategically and explore housing options thoroughly.

As we embark on this narrative journey together, remember that sometimes, the most profound connections arise from the unspoken.

Stay tuned for the next chapter, where the adventure continues, and classes officially begin.

With stethoscopes and determination,
